June Book Haul!

This month I was lucky enough to win a huge giveaway from #SundayYA which included some absolutely amazing books and I also got myself a little pay day treat. So let’s get into the haul…
Harry Potter and The Philosophers Stone Gryffindor House Edition (Hardback) by JK Rowling (1997/2017): So we all know that 2017 marks the 20th birthday of the first Harry Potter book and when they released the House Editions, I knew I had to grab the Gryffindor one to show my house pride! It’s such a beautiful cover and those sprayed edges are to die for. I wrote a little post about what Harry Potter means to me, you can read it here.

Always and Forever Lara Jean by Jenny Han (2017): A conclusion to a trilogoy that so far, I have enjoyed immensely. I can’t quite believe I haven’t got around to this one yet! Maybe because I don’t want it to end? I love Lara Jean and her whole family and I am both excited and nervous to see how her story gets wrapped up.

Summer Days and Summer Nights Anthology (Paperback) by Stephenie Perkins – Editor (2017): When this first came out I was really excited for it but I really wasn’t a fan of the hardback cover, and as I prefer readig paperback anyway, I decided to wait for that come out and I am SO glad I did because it is so pretty! I really love short story collections because they give you a chance to try out authors you’ve never read before. I will definitely be getting to this before summer ends.

So that’s the end of the books I bought last month and now we can get into the books I won as part of the SundayYA giveaway and let me tell you, I was GOBSMACKED. Some of these are in celebration of the YA Book Prize and few were a surprise extra…

Paper Butterflies by Lisa Heathfield (2016): I am super excited to read this one. I’ve heard I will need tissues though! I am such a book cryer as well so…yikes. It sounds so intriguing and I’m completely in love with the cover. Hopefully I can get to it soon.

After the Fire by Will Hill (2017): This book has got SO much hype and I am so excited to get to it. I have’t seen ne bad review of it. It focuses around a cult which is so interesting t me, I have never read fiction about that kid of subject before. It’s quite a big book as well, which i exciting because I feel like it’s something I can really get my teeth into.

Crongton Knights by Alex Wheatle (2016): This is the second book of a trilogy so I won’t be getting to it anytime soon. I have been digging a good series recently though, so when the thought strikes me, I will be able to get the first book, knowing the second book will be waiting for me. I haven’t really heard much about these books, to be honest!

I’ll Be Home For Christmas Anthology by lots of authors! (2016): Another anthology yay! I am such a mood reader, so I can’t wait to add this to my 2017 Christmas Reading List. I’ve seen a lot of people use Christmas short story collections as advent calendars, so I might give that a go! I am honestly SO excited about this one.

Beautiful Broken Things by Sara Barnard (2016): I absolutely adored Barnard’s A Quiet Kind of Thunder when I read it in January. I am super excited to read this one because I’ve heard it focuses more on female friendship. There’s also a character called Rosie and if it’s anything like AQKOT I will fly through it and hopefully love it too.

Rebel of the Sands by Alwyn Hamilton (2016): I head the pleasure of meeting Alwyn at an event at the start of the year and I won’t lie, I wasn’t massively excited to read her books. Since reading a few other fantasy books though, I’m actually quite excited to jump in. Though the size of book 2 does kind of terrify me!

The Call by Peadar O Guillin (2016): One that I’ve seen around a lot but know nothing about. I’ve heard that it’s better f you go in blind so that’s what I am doing! I’m looking to seeing what all the hype is about.

The final book I got in this giveaway is really rather special…

Chasing The Stars by Malorie Blackman (2016): SO not only is this by one of my favourite authors, it’s also a Shakespeare retelling and it’s also SIGNED copy! YES SIGNED! A SIGNED MALORIE BLACKMAN BOOK. I teared up when I opened up, its so so wonderful.

So there you have it! These are all the lovely books I got in June and boy was I lucky this month! I can’t wait to get to them all. July is my birthday month so I’m sure I will have a great haul next month too!

  1. After you’ve read Paper Butterflies and After the Fire, you should read Seed, which is a book set in a cult by Lisa Heathfield and also excellent. I haven’t read After the Fire yet myself, but I’m looking forward to it!

  2. Ooh Summer Days & Summer Nights looks amazing! I almost said fab…

I read a review of Chasing The Stars today and now I’m desperate to read it!

  3. Beautiful Broken Things and Rebel of the Sands are some of the best UKYA releases in their respective genres of recent years – definitely worth reading! And just look at all that gold foil.
