The end of the year is upon us, if you’re just a few books away from hitting your Goodreads goal, you may be on the hunt for quick read to hit that magic number! Here are 10 types of books (with examples) that you may want to read.
1. A Companion Novella:
Why? They are usually very short. You can dive back into a world you love and meet some characters you miss.
Example: This Winter, A Solitaire Novella by Alice Oseman.
2. A Graphic Novel:
Why? They are quick reads, fun and a format you probably don’t read that much. Grab a cup of tea and read one in one sitting, totally blissful.
Example: Heartstopper by Alice Oseman.
3. A Favourite Book:
Why? You already know the story so can read it super fast and since Goodreads starting counting re-reads, it’d be rude not to!
Example: Elsewhere by Gabrielle Zevin is my fav book of all time, but you can just choose yours!
4. A Novella
Why? They are super quick and usually super cheap (See World Book Day £1 Books)
Example: Spot The Difference by Juno Dawson
5. A Kids Book
Why? Kids books are good for the soul and are often done with within an hour or so.
Example: Sam Wu Is Not Afraid Of Ghosts by Katie & Kevin Tsang
6. A Non-Fiction Book About Your Hobby/Career
Why? Not only would this be super productive, you could pick one that isn’t too long.
Example: 100 Acting Exercises For 8-18 Year Olds by Sam Marsden
7. A Book That Describes Itself As “Little”
Why? It does what it says on the tin.
Example: Little Black Book by Otegha Uwagba
8. A Poetry Book
Why? Short and sweet and it’s something a bit different.
Example: The Desiderate by Max Ehrmann
9. A Book You Can’t Put Down
Why? You just will not be able to stop reading until you’re finished!
Example: The Loneliest Girl In The Universe by Lauren James
5. A Play
Why? It shouldn’t take you longer to read this than it does to be performed, so no more than 3 hours!
Example: Hamlet by William Shakespeare
Another tip would be to listen to any of these on double speed on audio to really smash that goal! Good luck!
Happy reading, lovelies xo
