BLOG TOUR: The Switch Up by Kate Cannon – Katy Cannon’s Summer Essentials

Today I am excited to be on The Switch Up Blog Tour! Katy is sharing her summer essentials with us all…*I was gifted a copy of the book from the publisher*

Summer is a time when anything seems possible, and the longer days and sunshine mean I want to get outside and do All The Things! Here are 5 things I can’t survive summer without, and 5 activities that make it feel like summer to me.

Summer Essentials:

Sunscreen. I burn easily, so this one is a must!

Swimming costume. I love to swim, especially in the sea.

A great TBR list – loaded up on my kindle and phone for when I’m out and about, and paperbacks or hardbacks for reading in the garden on a sunny day.

My journal and pen case. I get some of my best ideas when I’m out and about doing other things. Sometimes it’s enough to just make a note on my phone, but I often like to ‘think on paper’ and my journal is perfect for this. Plus, I like to record all the special memories I make during the summer.

Sunglasses. I finally got contact lenses last summer, so I can wear normal sunglasses and then push them up to hold my hair back and still be able to see. I swear, this was like a lifelong ambition for me.

Summer Activities:

Eat ice cream. This one is a must – preferably on the beach, or by a river, but also in my own back garden whenever possible!

See the sea. I love the seaside, and getting down to a beach or coastline and just breathing in the salt water always makes me feel summery.

Visit somewhere new. I have lots of favourite places I like to go back to time and again, but I also like to expand my horizons a bit and get out and explore new places. There’s always so much to learn there – about the history, the environment, the people… fascinating!

Hang out with friends. It’s always easier to get together when the sun is shining, so I make plans to meet people for picnics, or walks in the woods, or trips to the beach once or twice a week. Lazy summer days are the best days for talking and reconnecting with people, even for my introverted self!

Read. Obviously. Reading in the sunshine (or more usually the shade!) with nowhere else to be and nothing else to do is my absolute bliss.

What makes summer feel properly summery for you…?

The Switch Up

The Switch Up:

I’m currently reading this lovely book and it is so cute and summery so far. It’s giving me Parent Trap vibes as 2 girls who look alike are swappng places for the summer. So far I love the characters and Katy’s writing is fun and engaging. I’m super excited to see where the story goes as the girls are just entering their swapped lives for the first time! It’s the perfect weekend read.

Here is the blurb:
